This past weekend I finished I, Robot by Isaac Asimov for the first time. I’ve always watched the movie as it is one of my dads favorites.
As I the podcast I’ve been listening to is currently talking about themes in books and AI taking over the news. I couldn’t very well not get chills reading the last short story regarding the massive computers directing every aspect of human existence. We aren’t quite there yet but as computers develop perhaps the first three laws of robotics will exist some day.
The interplay between the fear and confidence in the creation of robots is fascinating. When humans create brilliant devices or methods do they truly understand their creation?
I think, perhaps, I shall end there as some food for thought. as I’ve yet to move past the question nor is it one I think there’s an answer too but it’s one of reasons I enjoy science-fiction in movie and literature form.
