In the glorious process of editing, I’ve been re-reading scenes, dialogue, and sentences. Perhaps one of the biggest concerns I’ve started coming to terms with is that I can’t tell if my character voices actually sound different or if they’re all still sounding the same. Part of the problem, is there are a lot of formal necessities that I’m cutting out of the dialogue.
Over the next couple weeks, I’m going to dive into editing dialogue to make it useful focusing mostly on the dynamics between relationships.
What are some ways you love seeing dialogue emphasize the differences between characters?
