Welcome to Paracosm

The Set Up

For this post, I thought I might do a brief introduction to my current project. It’s still in the very rough first stages. Still, I plan on using it as an example in some ways in future posts, so this is an excellent way to introduce you (the reader) to the world of Paracosm.

Paracosm is my fictional world where the legend of Peregrina Korosec takes place. Paracosm is the name of a galactic empire within the Paracosm Galaxy. The galaxy itself is a spiral galaxy with four primary spirals. In the center of the galaxy rests two planets, Torrin and Paracosm. These two planets are sister planets. Paracosm is the homeworld of the Emperor or Empress of the Paracosm Empire (Empire for short). The Paracosm Empire takes up most of the galaxy’s center with some expansion into the edges of the spirals.

However, two other powerful governments reside in the East and West Spirals. In the East lives the Stashcapi Collective. The Stashcapi reside at the very tip of the spiral. Most of the galaxy between the edge of the spiral and center is uninhabitable and dangerous to cross. However, a wormhole connects the tip of the spiral to the edge of the center of the galaxy. After a costly war several millennia ago, they have little to do with the rest of the galaxy.

In the center of the West Spiral, the Reochians reside. The Reochian’s in the middle of the last war between the three governments, retreated, sealing themselves off from the galaxy. It takes about two weeks to travel from their homeworld Reoch to Torrin at the galaxy’s center.

Before the war several millennia ago, humans arrived from their own galaxy. They were on a one-way shot voyage to find a new place to live after destroying Earth and livable planets within a short travel distance. With them, they brought the religious wars of Earth. This time, they managed to entangle the three governments in their war. When Reoch retreated, the Stashcapi and Paracosm subdued the humans, banishing them to a planet, the humans called New Terra. Humans have lived on New Terra since and do not interact with other governments. Currently, each group (I need a better word for them) does not interact.

The Story Blurb

A choice, even for the purest reasons, can have disastrous consequences.
After Cathan desecrates the temple to try and access the power of ancient technology, his sister, Peregrina, chooses to become an agent to protect her family. As an agent, she will become a member of the largest criminal organization in the Paracosm Empire’s underworld.

Peregrina doesn’t completely understand how Cathan managed to interfere with old rites that brought Astra and Astro to their temple. Still, she does know what she saw of her own path. If she chooses a bloody life as an agent, Peregrina has a chance at stopping the man lying to her brother. While her family continues to live in peace. It was the only path to preserve the balance.

But will Peregrina be able to live with the path she chose?
